U.S. economy created 211,000 jobs in April 2017

The Labor Department reported on Friday that nonfarm payrolls increased by a seasonally-adjusted 210,000 positions in April, well above the consensus 190,000 estimate.  This followed gains of 79,000 in March, originally reported as 98,000 and 232,000 in February, originally reported as 219,000.  The weak March payroll increase appears to have been weather related.  Monthly revisions result from additional reports received…

The Labor Department reported on Friday that nonfarm payrolls increased by 235,000 positions in February, above the consensus 200,000 estimate.  Revisions to December and January preliminary estimates added 9,000 more jobs than initially reported.  Monthly revisions result from additional reports received from businesses since the last published estimates and from the recalculation of seasonal factors. U.S. Economy Generated 227,000 Jobs in January 2017

In the first major release of employment conditions under the Trump Administration, the Labor Department reported on Friday that nonfarm payrolls increased by 227,000 positions in January, above the consensus 175,000 estimate. The change in total nonfarm payroll employment for November was revised down from 204,000 to 164,000, and the change for December was revised up from 156,000 to 157,000.…

U.S. Economy Generated 2.2 Million Jobs in 2016

In the last major release of employment conditions under the Obama Administration, the Labor Department reported on Friday that nonfarm payrolls increased by 156,000 positions in December. Marking the seventh year of economic expansion, 2.2 million jobs were generated in 2016, compared with 2.7 million in 2015.
