NIC Future Leaders Council
The NIC Future Leaders Council (FLC) was established in 2009 and represents the best and brightest emerging leaders of the industry, who bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and an abundance of energy and drive.
The FLC is comprised of handpicked professionals, nominated by companies that have volunteered and contributed significant time and resources to support NIC’s mission. FLC members work closely with each other, the board, and committees to directly contribute to NIC’s initiatives while developing leadership skills and forming meaningful professional relationships.
The selection of FLC members is a highly competitive process. Nominations originate from senior level executives and are focused on candidates with:
-
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
- Preference for no more than ten years of relevant work experience, though nominees with more may be considered
- Evaluation is based on the overall quality and alignment of the nomination package, not years of experience alone
- Strong leadership potential, but not yet exercising industry-wide leadership
- Passion for the senior housing and care industry
- Commitment to the mission of NIC
- Desire to grow within their company, the industry, and NIC
- Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically about issues in the senior housing and care industry
Service on the FLC is a three-year commitment, and members meet as a group quarterly – at the NIC Fall Conference, a Winter Retreat, the NIC Spring Conference, and a Summer Retreat. All meetings and retreats are mandatory and there is an annual participation fee of $1,000 to help defray FLC meeting expenses.
We believe developing young leaders will help us handle the unique challenges and opportunities of our industry. Harnessing the substantial talent of the FLC helps NIC gear up for the future of senior housing and care.
