Press Release

Largest cloud-based EHR provider for the senior living and long-term and post-acute care sectors joins NIC initiative

CHICAGO (September 11, 2019)— The National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care (NIC) has added PointClickCare as its newest NIC Actual Rates Software Partner, further enhancing NIC’s arsenal of trusted data and timely analytics to inform decision making in the senior housing sector.

The announcement was made today at NIC’s 2019 Fall Conference in Chicago. PointClickCare is one of the largest electronic health record providers for the senior housing and care industry. Its inclusion as a NIC Actual Rates Software Partner broadens the reach of this important industry initiative.

“NIC’s Software Partners support transparency in senior housing by enabling the most accurate benchmark data available on the monthly rates a resident actually pays living in a senior housing property,” said NIC president and CEO Brian Jurutka. “This provides metrics comparable to other real estate property types, helping investors better understand opportunities in the seniors housing property market.”

NIC has worked with software providers to make reporting of actual rates more efficient for operators.  NIC Actual Rates Software Partners have built reporting of actual rates into their software suites and services to make it easy for operators to participate in NIC’s initiative which further advances the sector’s transparency.

“PointClickCare is proud to become a NIC Actual Rates Software Partner,” says Travis Palmquist, vice president and general manager, Senior Living, PointClickCare. “Enabling our customers to efficiently share their rate data promotes greater transparency and a means to benchmark the industry.”

Additionally, NIC staff highlighted that Dr. Janet L. Yellen, former chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (2014-2018), will engage in a moderated discussion during their fall conference with Kathleen Hays, Bloomberg Television and Radio’s global economics and policy editor. Dr. Yellen is expected to comment on the U.S. and global economic landscape. NIC staff also summarized the recent study by NORC at the University of Chicago and funded by NIC on the housing affordability challenges facing America’s middle-income seniors.

The 2019 NIC Fall Conference takes place through Friday, September 13 at the Sheraton Grand Chicago and the Loews Chicago Downtown hotels.
