NIC Acquires VisionLTC to Create Data Powerhouse for Seniors Housing and Skilled Nursing Sectors

NIC MAP Vision brings data needed by investors, operators, and others together under one brand

ANNAPOLIS (March 11, 2021)—The National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care (NIC) has acquired Raleigh, NC-based VisionLTC, a leading data analytics platform serving many of the industry’s largest and most advanced stakeholders. Together, NIC and VisionLTC are creating a new company called NIC MAP Vision.

NIC MAP Vision will integrate the market-leading NIC MAP® Data Service (NIC MAP) with VisionLTC’s best-in-class data for investors, owners, and operators. NIC MAP Vision will be led by VisionLTC’s chief executive officer Arick R. Morton. The company will provide significantly deeper and broader data for industry stakeholders.

“Bringing NIC MAP and VisionLTC together will result in the best possible business intelligence for senior housing and care investors, owners, and operators,” said Kurt Read, managing director at RSF Partners and chair of NIC’s Board of Directors. “NIC MAP Vision is the culmination of nearly two years of strategic planning by NIC’s Board, which is comprised of leaders from across the senior living and senior care continuum. We’ve seen today’s opportunities require more, and more complex data to guide solutions that benefit seniors, including market and property data, as well as information on health status and healthcare utilization. This acquisition is highly compatible with NIC’s mission and enables a resource that is substantially greater than the sum of its parts.”

NIC MAP and VisionLTC staff members are invited to become NIC MAP Vision employees. Company leaders say the combined team has the experience and expertise to continue to provide a comprehensive, one-stop data solution that industry investors, owners, and operators can rely on.

“NIC MAP Vision will become a trusted data analytics champion during a time of immense challenges and change when all stakeholders need insightful, actionable data,” said Morton. “NIC MAP Vision will seamlessly serve existing NIC MAP and VisionLTC clients during this integration and soon introduce new data offerings that add value to sector participants.”

The new company will help stakeholders understand, for example, the impact that living in a senior housing property or community has on Medicare spending; health and healthcare outcomes; when a market becomes saturated; and ways to successfully increase access and choice for people in the underserved “middle-income-market” for senior housing and care.

“As the COVID-19 pandemic has made clear, investors, owners, and operators need a holistic approach to data to understand market dynamics, including health and well-being metrics,” said Brian Jurutka, NIC’s president and chief executive officer. “The impending influx of baby boomers into multifamily housing and senior living options in the years ahead makes bringing together senior housing data discussing supply, demand, and health care even more relevant and essential for the ultimate benefit of America’s seniors.”

Jurutka said creating NIC MAP Vision will help NIC continue to fulfill its mission of providing deep analysis and fostering connections for all facets of the sector, while better serving investors and providers by greatly expanding the industry’s data resources.

NIC will continue to invest in must-attend events, networking opportunities, research, and thought leadership consistent with its mission of promoting access and choice for older adults. NIC MAP Vision will provide NIC use of its data to continue and expand NIC’s best-in-class analytics products and thought leadership.

“NIC MAP Vision will provide clarity where it has long been needed,” said Morton. “Even more than most real estate property types, senior housing, and skilled nursing care has relied on a wide range of both supply- and demand-side data providers to inform investors’ decisions and understand seniors’ housing and care needs. NIC MAP Vision will offer the most sophisticated, comprehensive data resource on the market available, anywhere.”

Ascento Capital, LLC and CS Capital Advisors, LLC are serving as financial advisors to NIC. Nixon Peabody LLP is serving as legal counsel to NIC.
