Matt Ruark is Senior Vice President and Head of Commercial and Healthcare Mortgage Production within the Real Estate Capital Markets Group at KeyBank. He also leads the Investor Placement Team, which he established at KeyBank in 2011. As Head of Commercial and Healthcare Mortgage Production, Matt oversees multiple teams of mortgage bankers and analysts. The teams partner with KeyBank's corporate real estate offices nationwide to originate permanent debt placements. Collectively, these groups originate more than $4 billion in fixed- and floating-rate permanent mortgages annually. Matt also serves as a member of the Commercial Mortgage Group's management team.
Additional responsibilities at KeyBank include serving as a Senior Managing Director for Key Investment Management and on the Board of Managers for RedLock Capital Partners.
With more than 25 years of experience in the commercial mortgage banking industry, Matt has built a career originating debt and equity financing solutions for both private and public real estate owners. Throughout his career, he has cultivated relationships with a broad range of capital providers, including insurance companies, investment banks, government agencies, commercial banks, and other financial institutions.
Matt serves on the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care (NIC) Board of Directors and Executive Committee, where he currently serves as Treasurer. He previously chaired NIC's Middle Market Focus Area Committee, served as lead instructor for the NIC Certificate Program, and has been a member of the NIC Fall Conference Planning Committee since 2019.
His community involvement includes service on the Olathe Economic Development Council Board, the Northeast Industrial Association Board, and the Kansas City Industrial Council. He also served as an affiliate member of the Kansas City CCIM Chapter. Matt is a graduate of the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Centurion Leadership Program and was recognized by Ingram's Magazine as one of Kansas City's "40 Under 40" business leaders.
Matt earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Finance and a minor in Mathematics from the University of Nebraska, and an MBA from Rockhurst University with dual concentrations in Finance and Marketing.
