Annapolis, Md. - Mark Zandi, chief economist and co-founder of Moody's Economy.com, and Newt Gingrich,
former Speaker of the House and founder of the Center for Health Transformation, will deliver the keynote
addresses at the 20th Annual NIC Conference, as announced today by the National Investment Center for
the Seniors Housing & Care Industry (NIC). This premier dealmaking event brings together seniors housing
and care providers, financiers and developers-with portfolios ranging from international and national
to regional and local—in an informative forum designed to facilitate networking.
This year's conference will return to the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers in Chicago, Ill., on September
22-24, 2010. The theme will be: "Seniors Housing & Care Performs: Delivering Value by Focusing on the
Fundamentals."
"Although the industry has survived tumultuous times, the future still remains challenging," said Robert
G. Kramer, president of NIC. "Our conference will reveal valuable strategies from savvy industry principals
who have adjusted to the difficult economic climate. Attendees of the event will benefit from the numerous
dedicated opportunities designed to match capital with quality providers."
On Thursday morning, September 23, Mark Zandi will address attendees at the opening plenary session.
He will discuss the future of the "housing marketing" and consumer spending, and the economic impact of
various tax and government spending policies. He will also provide his thoughts about the appropriate
policy response to bubbles in asset markets and his suggestions for meeting the nation's daunting fiscal
challenges.
A trusted adviser to policymakers and an influential source of economic analysis for businesses, journalists
and the public, Zandi is chief economist of Moody's Analytics. He has frequently testified before Congress
and has advised the Obama administration as well as Senator John McCain's presidential campaign.
Also on Thursday, September 23, Newt Gingrich will be the featured speaker at the networking luncheon.
Drawing on his leadership in the field of healthcare innovation, his talk, "The Cost, Consequences,
and Future of Healthcare Reform," will outline both the real and political costs of healthcare reform
for the country, as well as provide an overview of what individuals—and companies—need to know about
the outcomes of the reform efforts.
Former Speaker of the House Gingrich is widely recognized for his commitment to a better system of health
for all Americans. Gingrich founded the Center for Health Transformation to foster a modern health system
that provides better outcomes at a lower cost. He also served as co-chairman with former Senator Bob
Kerrey of the National Commission for Quality Long-Term Care, which developed recommendations for policymakers
and the public for achieving a high quality of life and high quality of care for the aging population.
In addition, breakout sessions led by prominent seniors housing and care experts will present essential
fundamentals and strategies for financiers and operators. Many networking opportunities will also be
available, including multiple coffee and networking breaks, networking receptions and a networking lounge.
Attendees can visit the NIC Data Center to find current NIC research publications and gain access to
current quarter NIC MAP data on America's 100 largest markets.
Attendance for the 20th Annual NIC Conference is limited to the first 1,600 registrants. Registration
