Practical Realities of HUD LEAN
HUD/FHA insured funding has become the dominant source of capital in the tenuous credit environment.
The Lean application process is the most dramatic change in the program’s history, and it has been instrumental
to the program’s success. Now that it’s been operational for more than a year, its practical realities
are better defined. This panel will use several case studies to illustrate project and application characteristics
that are necessary for a successful funding outcome, as well as action steps that can prevent delays
or outright rejections. The timing of the program—in light of extraordinary demand, program staffing,
and continuous refinements—will also be discussed.
